Hare Law SchoolNewsWelcome from the HeadteacherWelcome to our school In our school we respect each other because we believe everyone has something positive to offer in school and the wider community. We enjoy working in partnership with parents/carers and other agencies who support the development of our young people. Within our school pupils have the opportunity to develop their personal and academic ability at their own individual pace. We support each other whilst we learn together. If you would like to visit our school please contact me. Maggie Collins Theme for Autumn TermThe theme for the Autumn term is "Me and my Environment". Sports Relief DayA big thank you to all who supported and gave very generously towards Sports Relief Day. Just over £700 was raised and staff and pupils had a great day. Term time holidaysWe continue to enstill in parents/carers and pupil's the importance of regular attendance in school. The School GardenThe School Garden is (at last) to receive regular maintenance. Over the last couple of years we have tried, with the help of staff and student to keep it weed free etc, however, it has proven too big a task and now that we have received a small grant we intend to use it to employ the services of a local gardening company. We will keep you informed of the progress… UniformsThank you for your support in encouraging your son/daughter to wear their school uniform. We have seen a big improvement in students wearing the correct clothing… please continue the good work! Class ChangesFrom September when we have our new intake of students we will be making changes to the structure of our classes. At the moment we have 8 classes (L1, L2, L3, L4, U1, U2, U3 & U5) which we intend to increase to 9. This is really great news as it means that each class will have no more than 12 students giving each child an even greater opportunity for individualised learning. AttendanceStudent attendance is improving. We cannot stress enough the importance of your child attending school every day (unless of course they are ill). We have also seen a decline in the amount of parents requesting holiday leave for their child during school time. Even though a week’s holiday may seem a very small amount of time to be away from school, your son/daughter will be missing important work that they may never catch up with again. Texting Service to ParentsThe service is proving to be an invaluable communication tool for school and we are currently able to contact 95% of parents via this means. We will continue to communicate in the usual way, for example, you will still receive letters and newletters, however, in an emergency, bad weather etc, the texting service will be our first point of call for parents and home to school transport. National Healthy School AwardWe have achieved the status of 'National Healthy School' which we are thrilled about!! This award 'lasts' 3 years, however we will continue to promote and develop even further upon what we have already learnt. That is; how to live a healthier lifestyle, from the food we eat, to the exercise we take and everything else that adds to a person's wellbeing. |
